Why Is Sawan So Important in Hinduism?
According to Hindu mythology, the month of Sawan is specially dedicated to Lord Shiva. During this period, Mahadev blesses his devotees with good fortune.
There are many sacred Shiva mantras. The most revered mantras among Shiva mantras in Yajurveda are:
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात्॥
"We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who nourishes all beings. May He free everyone from the bondage of fear and death, just as a ripe cucumber naturally separates from its vine, and bless with immortality and peace."
These mantras recited in Sawan are supposed to give inner strength, protection, and spiritual growth to the individual.
Mantra chanting along with sincere devotion to the Lord should be performed at Sanatangyan instead of just doing ritual practices.
