Who Is Tungavidya Sakhi?
Tungavidya Sakhi is the fifth among the eight varishtha sakhis, the principal companions of Srimati Radharani. Her eternal residence is described as Tungavidyananda Kunja, a beautiful crimson-colored kunja situated on the western petal of Madana-sukhada Kunja.
Her birthplace is traditionally identified as Dabharo (Damala) in the Varsana area. According to traditional descriptions, her father is Paushkara, her mother is Medha, and her husband is Balisha.
Tungavidya is described as being fifteen days older than Srimati Radharani in some traditional accounts, although descriptions of her age vary across sources. She has a beautiful, luminous complexion of a combination of saffron, camphor, and sandal wood with a dress that is of a light yellow color.
