Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Pahalgam Attack – ‘Time for Action, Not Silence

India is once again reeling from the shock of a brutal terror attack — this time in the scenic Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The attack targeted innocent tourists. It has left the whole country in shock, sadness, and anger. Many people have spoken out. One of them is spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He made a strong and clear appeal. He said it's not enough to just condemn terrorism. The world needs to take real and serious action against it.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, known for promoting peace and spirituality through the sanatangyan tradition, didn’t mince words. “At this hour of grief and rage, the whole world should come together to show the place of the terrorists where they belong,” he said. “Every sane person will condemn this, but now it's not just enough to condemn; there is a need for action.”

A United Call Against Terror

The Pahalgam attack, one of the deadliest in the region since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, claimed the lives of five tourists from Maharashtra and injured several others. The whole country has been severely affected by the attack. It has not only been a feeling of pain and anger for people all over, but that energy has also resulted in innumerable protests and candlelight marches. The one who organized them was not only the politicians but also the ordinary individuals who showed their pain and demanded the justice.

In Pahalgam, local taxi drivers organized a peaceful candlelight march. Similar marches happened all over Jammu and Kashmir, in places like Srinagar, Baramulla, Poonch, Akhnoor, and Kupwara. People from different communities joined together in sadness and protest. In Jammu, Bajrang Dal workers also held protests, calling for justice and strong action.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s message resonated deeply. He emphasized that such heinous ideologies must be tackled at their roots. “It should be nipped in the bud where such indoctrination is being given, wherever it is in the world,” he said, adding that the lives of innocent people are being destroyed by this inhuman behavior. His comments reflected the core values of sanatangyan. Sanatangyan stands for wisdom, peace, and fairness. These values are the opposite of the chaos and violence caused by terrorism.

Political Response and National Mourning

After the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman quickly ended their foreign trips to deal with the situation. Modi, who was in Saudi Arabia, and Sitharaman, on an official visit to the US and Peru, returned immediately to take charge and review the national response.

PM Modi condemned the attack in the strongest terms, promising that those behind this “heinous act” will face justice. Echoing this sentiment, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flew to Srinagar for a high-level security review. “Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared,” he asserted.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a joint search operation in and around Baisran, Pahalgam, to track down the perpetrators. At the same time Delhi Police and other state forces have been told to increase security at tourist spots and other sensitive areas.

The Way Forward: Sanatangyan and Collective Strength

As India grieves yet another tragic loss, there’s a renewed focus on how to prevent such attacks in the future. The call for action isn't just about military or police responses. It's about tackling the beliefs that fuel terrorism. In this, spiritual guidance is very important.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s perspective, deeply rooted in sanatangyan, highlights the need for global unity in not just opposing terrorism but also eliminating the mindset that fuels it. His voice stands out not just as a spiritual leader, but as a bridge between peace and proactive justice.

In times like these, the teachings of sanatangyan serve as both a moral compass and a call to courage. The nation looks to its leaders — both political and spiritual — to guide it through the grief with resolve and righteousness.

The Pahalgam terror attack has shown that we urgently need to respond to the growing threat of terrorism. As the country mourns, voices like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's remind us that we can't stay silent. His call to action, based on values of peace and fairness, encourages both India and the world to focus on the root causes of extremism, not just the symptoms. In this time of grief, we must move forward with unity, determination, and real action.
