Spiritual Importance of Padmini Ekadashi

The greatness of this Ekadashi is also described in the Skanda Purana. It is said that observing this vrat gives merit equal to performing grand Vedic sacrifices like the Ashwamedha Yajna.

A famous verse connected with devotion to Lord Vishnu says:

“तुलसीदलमात्रेण जलस्य चुलुकेन वा।

 विक्रीणीत स्वमात्मानं भक्तेभ्यो भक्तवत्सलः॥”

Lord Vishnu becomes pleased even with a simple offering of Tulsi leaves and water from a true devotee.

This is why Tulsi worship holds immense importance on Padmini Ekadashi. On SanatanGyan, many devotees especially search for Tulsi remedies and Vishnu worship rituals during Adhik Maas because this month is considered extremely sacred for Lord Hari.

Tulsi Worship on Padmini Ekadashi

Tulsi worship holds special significance on this sacred day. Devotees light a ghee diya near the Tulsi plant and offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu.

Scriptures mention:

“यः प्रयच्छति तुलसीं देवदेवस्य चक्रिणः।

जन्मकोटिकृतं पापं तत्क्षणादेव नश्यति॥”

Whoever offers Tulsi to Lord Vishnu becomes free from sins accumulated over many lifetimes.

Lighting diyas on or near Tulsi and Peepal trees is a highly auspicious act to engage in during Adhik Maas. In addition to lighting diyas, many devotees perform Deep Daan in temples and their own homes, to attract divine blessings.

Connection Between Adhik Maas and Lord Vishnu

This is why Padmini Ekadashi becomes even more special. Worshipping Lord Vishnu together with Goddess Lakshmi during this period is said to attract prosperity, happiness, and protection from negativity.

A well-known Sanskrit verse says:

“हरिर्हि नाम्ना पुरुषोत्तमः स्मृतः।”

Lord Hari Himself is remembered as Purushottam, the Supreme Divine Being.

During Adhik Maas, because it is such an auspicious time for devotion to Lord Vishnu, many devotees will spend more time than usual in prayers, charitable giving, fasting, and self-control.

In 2026, on the 27th of May, Padmini Ekadashi is a rare and very holy day on which to fast; devotees who will be fasting for this holy occasion will also be doing so in accordance with other auspicious days such as Ekadashi, therefore they are guaranteed peace, prosperity, and blessings from Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi first before any other.
