When Will Radha Ashtami 2026 Be Celebrated?
Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The festival falls on Shukla Paksha Ashtami of Bhadrapada month and is traditionally observed as the birth anniversary of Shri Radha Rani, the beloved of Lord Krishna.
According to religious tradition, Radha Ashtami comes around 15 days after Janmashtami. The festival is celebrated with special devotion in the Braj region, particularly Barsana and Vrindavan.
Devotees worship Radha-Krishna on this day and observe a vrat with the belief that sincere devotion brings peace, love, happiness and spiritual prosperity.
Radha Ashtami 2026 Tithi and Puja Muhurat
According to Drik Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi begins at 1:00 PM on September 18 and ends at 3:26 PM on September 19, 2026.
The most important period for Radha Rani worship is Madhyahna Kala, or the midday period. For instance, Drik Panchang mentions that Madhyahna in Safipur falls between 10:49 AM and 1:16 PM. The timings may differ according to the location, so it is advised to refer to the local Panchang before the puja.

Why Is Radha Ashtami Puja Performed Around Afternoon?
There are many reasons why the puja is performed during afternoon. However, the most important one is the tradition of the appearance of Radha Rani during Madhyahna Kala, which is a Hindu midday time.
For instance, the Madhyahna period for 2026 is specific to the location. As an example, Drik Panchang mentions 11:19 AM to 1:46 PM for Palghar, while other locations have a little different timing.
Hence, the importance of the afternoon is mostly the special puja and birth-appearance period rather than the obligatory requirement to break the fast right after.
Is the Radha Ashtami Vrat Really Kept Only Until Afternoon?
This is where confusion often arises.
It is not a tradition that the fast must always end after the afternoon puja. According to the Radha Ashtami vrat procedure cited by Drik Panchang from the Brihannaradiya Purana, devotees may observe a full-day fast according to their capacity. Those unable to maintain a full-day fast may follow an Ekabhukta Vrat, meaning a single meal during the day.
Hence, in case of Radha Rani, the afternoon holds significance during her puja; the period of the fast depends upon the particular vrat that is performed, individual capabilities, and local customs.
Radha Ashtami 2026 Puja Vidhi
Start your day with a shower and change into clean clothes, then take a sankalp for vrat. Arrange a clean area for the puja, and arrange a wooden platform that is adorned with a red or yellow cloth.
A copper or clay kalash can be placed, followed by Shri Radha and Krishna idols or pictures. In case it is possible, Radha Rani's idol can be provided with Panchamrit abhishek and adorned with attractive clothes and jewelry.
Roli, akshat, sindoor, flower, agarbatis, light, fruits, and sweets should be offered. Recite :
“ॐ श्री राधायै नमः।”
Salutations to Shri Radha, the embodiment of divine love and devotion.
The Bhagavad Gita also emphasizes devotion behind an offering:
“पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति।”
Whoever offers a leaf, flower, fruit or water with devotion, that offering is lovingly accepted.
After the main puja around Madhyahna, devotees may recite Radha Ashtami Katha, perform aarti and offer bhog.
Radha Ashtami Remedies: What Can Be Offered to Radha Rani?
Offer Solah Shringar Items
During Radha Ashtami puja, traditional Solah Shringar items can be offered to Radha Rani. Items such as sindoor, bangles, mehendi, bindi and other adornments are associated with devotional decoration.
Some devotees also offer these items to married women after puja as a form of prasad.
Offer Perfume and Flowers
Incense occupies an important position during devotional puja. Rose or jasmine perfumes along with flowers should be offered to Radha Krishna.
Marigolds, roses, and other yellow and pink flowers can adorn the puja altar in such a way that a serene ambiance is created for prayer.
