Think you missed the benefits of Purushottam Maas? The final 15 days still offer a rare chance to earn immense spiritual merit through devotion, daan, and Krishna bhakti.
Did most of Purushottam Maas pass by without completing the important spiritual practices? There is still hope. The final 15 days of this rare and highly sacred month provide a powerful opportunity to recover many of the spiritual benefits that may have been missed. Devotees still have the opportunity to obtain Lord Purushottam's blessings for the remainder of this time from the sacred month of Purushottam through ongoing acts of charity, devotion, scripture recitation, japa, and pilgrimage.

Why Purushottam Maas Is So Special
Purushottam Maas (also called Adhik Maas) is viewed by many as the highest holy month of the year in the Hindu calendar. The Mahants describe this month as an extra lunar month, one that occurs once every three years; and it has been dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu (the Supreme Being) through His form of Purushottam.
The holy texts reveal that this month will allow for unlimited spiritual growth through acts of charity, devotion, purification, and self-improvement, regardless of how much time is left to you.
The Bhagavad Gita describes the Supreme Lord as:
पुरुषोत्तमः स सर्वस्य
लोकस्य च प्रथितः
The Supreme Lord is known as Purushottam, the highest among all beings and the ultimate refuge of the universe.

Recover Missed Benefits Through Charity (Daan)
Devotees with times of missed observances may best recoup their lost observance currently through charity.
According to teachings passed down in the Shrimad Bhagavatam tradition, devotees may gift ghee to the number of days of missed observance of Purushottam Maas. For example, if ten days of observances were missed, an equivalent quantity of ghee may be offered in charity.
Along with ghee donation, devotees are encouraged to:
Offer Tulsi leaves dipped in pure ghee.
Donate bananas.
Donate yellow or new clothes (Peela Vastra).
Support Vaishnavas and spiritual practitioners.
Charity performed with devotion purifies the heart and helps reconnect with the spiritual purpose of this sacred month.

Do Not Miss the Rare Purushottam Maas Ekadashi
The upcoming Ekadashi during Purushottam Maas is especially significant because this opportunity comes only once in approximately three years.
The scriptures repeatedly glorify Ekadashi as a powerful day for spiritual purification.
श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता ९.२६
पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।
तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः ॥
Lord Krishna accepts even a leaf, flower, fruit, or water when it is offered with sincere devotion.
Observing Ekadashi (as described in many religious texts) through fasting, increased chanting, increased prayer, and continuously remembering Lord Krishna throughout the day will help restore some of the spiritual energy lost prior to the month of Purushottam Maas.

Read Sacred Scriptures Daily
Scriptural study is another powerful way to recover missed Purushottam Maas benefits.
Devotees are encouraged to:
Read ten chapters from the Krishna-skandha of the Shrimad Bhagavatam according to Vaishnava traditions.
Recite the complete 15th chapter of the Purushottam section thirty times.
Read the full Sanskrit shlokas at least once before repeated recitation to understand what is being chanted.
Scripture recitation purifies the mind and strengthens devotion. Many readers of Sanatangyan are looking for practical tools to enhance their spiritual development, and daily scripture reading is an excellent avenue of creating that enhancement.
Increase Japa and Naam Sankirtan
Chanting the holy names has traditionally been considered to be the simplest and most powerful method of pursuing one's spiritual growth.
बृहन्नारदीय पुराण
हरेर्नाम हरेर्नाम हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ।
कलौ नास्त्येव नास्त्येव नास्त्येव गतिरन्यता ॥
In the age of Kali, the holy name of the Lord is the only path to spiritual upliftment.
The final days of Purushottam Maas should be dedicated to increasing japa as much as possible. Whether chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra or another authorized Vaishnava mantra, every round chanted with sincerity brings immense spiritual benefit.
Many devotees find that increasing japa during these last days helps complete the observance of the month in a meaningful way.

Feed Vaishnavas and Serve Devotees
Serving devotees is considered direct service to the Lord.
If possible:
Offer prasadam to Vaishnavas
Arrange devotional meals
Support temple activities
Participate in satsang and kirtan
The scriptures repeatedly teach that service offered to devotees brings immense blessings and spiritual advancement.
A single act of hospitality done with devotion is enough for it to assume a significant spiritual value during Purusha-uttama month (Month of Lord Purusottama).

Visit Vrindavan, Braj, or Govardhan If Possible
Among all recommendations, pilgrimage holds a special place.
If circumstances permit, visiting:
Vrindavan
Braj Mandal
Govardhan Dham
during the remaining days can greatly enhance one's observance of Purushottam Maas.
The holy places listed above are all connected closely with Krishna’s Divine Pastimes as well as being grand centres of devotion.
One short pilgrimage made with faith may also provide you with value, spiritually.

Although only the last 15 days of the month remain, this time may still be able to provide you with great spiritual treasures during your remaining time to produce great spiritual gifts through sincere devotion, charity, study of scriptures, japa, and service to devotees during the balance of the sacred month.
