Kamada Ekadashi 2026: Date, Vrat & This One Fast Can Fulfil All Your Wishes – Know How

Want your wishes fulfilled? Discover Kamada Ekadashi 2026 date, puja vidhi, and the spiritual power of fasting dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Kamada Ekadashi 2026 is a very revered vrat dedicated to Lord Vishnu that is said to fulfill desires and cleanse the soul. Kamada Ekadashi is deeply entrenched in Sanatan Dharma and is one of the most important Ekadashis, both in ritual and spiritually. This article provides a complete guide for participating in this powerful fast with devotion by listing the date, rituals, puja samagri (the items needed for worship) and their divine significance.

What is Kamada Ekadashi and Why is it Important?

In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi has a very specific meaning to many. Every month, two Ekadashis occur (one during Shukla Paksha and one during Krishna Paksha) and both are considered rituals of spiritual cleansing and devotion. According to ancient shashtra, fasting on Ekadashi helps control the senses and brings the devotee closer to Lord Vishnu.

Kamada Ekadashi, which follows Papmochani Ekadashi, is especially powerful. While Papmochani removes sins, Kamada is known as the fulfiller of desires. Saints, sadhu, and learned guru often describe this Ekadashi as a path not just for material wishes but for inner transformation.

What Does “Kamada” Mean?

The term "Kamada" means "the one who gives desires." The western understanding has taken this term at face value to mean that you can obtain all your worldly successes; however, the far more profound understanding is that the best desire you can have is not to be fulfilled in any worldly manner, but through your spiritual growth and devotion.

As found in the Varaha Purana, when Lord Krishna spoke to King Yudhishthira, he stated,

कामदैकादशी नाम सर्वकामप्रदायिनी।

“Kamada Ekadashi is that sacred day which fulfils all desires.”

The purpose of this teaching was to show Yudhishthira that the true intensity of one's connection to God allows for the removal of one's karmic debts, no matter how significant they may be.
