What is Pradosh Vrat?

In the Sanatangyan belief system, Pradosh Vrat is not merely a ritual—it is a gateway to divine grace. Pradosh Vrat is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is observed during the evening twilight, which is the most sacred time on the 13th day. Devotees fast and perform special prayers to Lord Shiva during this time. They do this to seek help with their sins, health problems, and mental worries.

The word "Pradosh" means "dusk" or "evening." That’s why this fast is usually done during the twilight hours. People who fast with true devotion are believed to receive many blessings from Lord Shiva.
