Feeling confused without any reason? Is it possible your soul is awakening and guiding you toward a deeper purpose?
Many people feel as though they are on a roller coaster of emotions— enjoying great success at times, yet lost or in despair, at other times. If you find yourself unsure of what direction your life is going in; it may actually mean that you are going through a transformational phase? This article discusses how confusion, emotional fluctuation, and increased awareness can signify the beginning of a spiritual awakening based on the ancient teachings of Sanatangyan.

The Hidden Meaning Behind Feeling Lost
There are moments when nothing feels certain. Goals lose meaning, relationships feel distant, and inner peace seems out of reach. This phase can feel uncomfortable, but according to Sanatangyan, it is often the first step toward spiritual growth.
Confusion has always been referenced in the context of spiritual transformation in an Ancient context as a signal that old limiting beliefs are breaking down so that new, liberating beliefs can take their place. When the mind becomes detached from false beliefs; the soul begins its search for the truth.
“असतो मा सद्गमय । तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय ।”
Meaning: Lead from untruth to truth, from darkness to light.
Darkness (confusion) is the beginning of finding light (clarity).

The Shift: When Inner Transformation Begins
Signs of spiritual awakening can include an inner shift in interests and values. Many such interests may have lost their desirability overnight. For example, you may suddenly have a strong desire for answers regarding your life, purpose and existence.
This inner shift is beautifully reflected in the Bhagavad Gita:
“नासतो विद्यते भावो नाभावो विद्यते सतः” (Bhagavad Gita 2.16)
The unreal has no existence, and the real never ceases to be.
The sequence of events that lead up to awakening can indicate an end to an illusion and the dawn of a new reality. Sanatangyan describes this experience as an end, but also, a new beginning.

Synchronicity: Meaningful Coincidences Start Appearing
During a spiritual awakening/transition, life can provide you with synchronicities (meaningful coincidences.) The frequency of them may increase - such as the occurrence of repeating numbers, serendipitous meetings, etc.
These incidents are not coincidental, they're actually signs from the Universe that everything is interconnected. In the ancient belief of Sanatangyan these kinds of experiences are considered a universe signal that is guiding your spirit along a path which is the correct one.
“योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्।”
Yoga is excellence in action.
This tells us that when we move in alignment with a higher degree of awareness we will experience life flowing fluidly, be able to connect the dots of experiences and see the bigger picture of what is really happening in life.

Increased Sensitivity and Empathy
As your spiritual awareness increases so does your emotional sensitivity to others; you may experience deeper connections with how others are feeling, how nature feels and even how to feel through silence.
This being said there could be a feeling of overstimulation at times due to being in crowded environments, being around negativity or being part of disagreement; as a result it may seem as if your ability to tolerate these types of situations becomes more difficult. This is actually a positive sign of inner refinement and not weakness.
A relevant teaching from ancient wisdom states:
“विद्या विनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि।
शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः॥” (Bhagavad Gita 5.18)
The wise see all beings equally, with compassion and understanding.
This verse illustrates for us how growth on the inside can help us develop a deeper empathy for others and have an equal vision toward all human beings.

Detachment from Material Illusions
As we continue to awaken it becomes common for humans to become less attached to material things that are the source of their success and or status quo as well as not needing any type of external validation since they now find fulfillment within themselves.
This does not mean to quit the world; however, to see it clearly through the lens of truth. Sanatangyan has a saying of "true happiness" being found from within, not from what you possess outside of yourself.
“न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचिन्…” (Bhagavad Gita 2.20)
The soul is never born and never dies.
This verse instructs us that our "true self" will always exist beyond temporary experiences and keep us as detached from these illusional experiences.
Why Confusion Is a Positive Sign
While confusion typically carries a negative connotation, in the spiritual sense it indicates transition. There are ways of thinking, or belief systems, that have been made obsolete but haven't yet been replaced by corresponding new systems of thought.
This “in-between” phase can feel unsettling, but it is necessary for transformation.
According to Sanatan Gyan, this point in time is symbolic of a door opening; the ego dissolving and an authentic self emerging.
If we embrace this state of confusion rather than resist it, we will experience accelerated growth and eventually develop clarity as a result of letting go of the desire for certainty in our minds.
Remaining lost does not mean we have reached our destination; it merely signifies the beginning of achieving a greater state of awareness. Our soul often uses what appears as confusion to direct us to find our truth, grow and seek out our life's purpose. We must be patient with ourselves during this time, knowing that clarity will be achieved soon enough.
