Looking for relief from Pitra Dosh? Learn why Ashadha Amavasya 2026 is the ideal day to perform ancestral rituals, charity, and spiritual remedies.

Ashadha Amavasya is one of the most important days in Sanatan Dharma tradition. On the occasion of Ashadha Amavasya, prayers and other religious activities are offered to ancestors. This day is believed to bring peace to the souls of the departed people and liberate people from the hurdles in their lives. In the year 2026, Ashadha Amavasya falls on July 14. This day is very significant for the purpose of attaining spiritual cleansing and achieving divine blessings.

Why Is Ashadha Amavasya So Important?

Ashadha Amavasya is meant for the Pitras (ancestors) and it is an auspicious day in the culture of Hindus. It is regarded as a very propitious day for Tarpan, Shraddha, Pind Daan, and donation. The customary belief is that followers are blessed by their ancestors when the ancestors are remembered with sincere devotion.

Some people observe this day to get rid of Pitra Dosh which is an imbalance that is supposed to occur due to the non-fulfillment of the ancestral duties. The rituals performed on Ashadha Amavasya help people to bring peace and happiness to their families.

At Sanatangyan, we value this special occasion as a chance to show gratitude towards our predecessors.

The Spiritual Significance of Honouring Ancestors

Sanatan Dharma informs us about the significance of respecting ancestors in the context of righteous living. Ancient texts state that it is necessary to recall our ancestors.

देवपितृकार्याभ्यां न प्रमदितव्यम्।

One should never neglect duties toward the Devas and the ancestors.

The belief that ancestors’ blessings may be received in the form of prosperity and good health, if and only if their family members perform their duties in relation to them, can be observed in this teaching.

How Ashadha Amavasya Helps in Pitra Dosh Nivaran

Old traditions also state the occurrence of Pitra Dosh when a person does not fulfill his ancestral duty. Thus, Ashadha Amavasya is regarded as a lucky day when offerings reach the ancestors.

Performing rituals on this day is believed to:

  • Reduce the effects of Pitra Dosh

  • Bring peace to departed ancestors

  • Remove recurring obstacles in life

  • Improve family harmony

  • Support career and financial growth

  • Help overcome negative karmic patterns

Countless individuals suffering from strange problems, obstacles in marriage, or permanent disappointments perform Amavasya rituals.

Powerful Remedies for Pitra Dosh on Ashadha Amavasya

Perform Tarpan, Pind Daan, or Shraddha

Make the first offering on Amavasya day on the spot after taking a bath. It should include water, black sesame seeds (til), and prayers for blessed ancestors.

Donate Sesame Seeds and Food Grains

Sesame seeds are highly respected in ancestral rituals. It is believed that making donations of sesame seeds, rice, wheat, and some other grains brings positive karma and decreases the misfortunes inflicted on the person.

Light a Lamp Under a Peepal Tree

The Peepal tree has immense spiritual meaning in Hinduism. During the evening, one should burn a lamp made of mustard oil beneath the Peepal tree and offer prayers circling it either for 5 or 7 times, thus removing the hidden barriers posed by ancestors, and becoming blessed.

Light a Diya Facing South

The ancestors are related to south direction. Lighting a lamp facing south while remembering dead relatives of the family ensures peace and prosperity of the household.

At Sanatangyan, these tested methods are cherished for spiritual significance, and nurturing gratitude and traditions concerning family.
