Maintain an up-to-date calendar of all festivals throughout the month of April 2026 and other important dates of pilgrimage (e.g. Hanuman Jayanti), Vrat (e.g. Akshaya Tritiya), and Narasimha Jayanti (April 2026) to simplify your spiritual practices during this month of devotion and increased faith based on shashtra rituals (i.e. following directions given by the sacred texts) and enhancing your divine connection by improving one's personal devotion/disciplines path of Sanatangyan.

Spiritual Significance of April 2026

In addition to the powerful energies of Hanuman Jayanti and Chaitra Purnima at the start of the month of April, the energy continues to grow in strength as the month goes on culminating with an emphasis on desire associated with fasting on the last day of this month.

As per shashtra, observing vrats like Ekadashi, Pradosh, and Shivratri purifies the mind and body. A true sadhu often emphasizes that fasting is not merely about food but about controlling desires and focusing on the divine. This essence of Sanatangyan reminds devotees to align actions with dharma.

There is a wonderful verse written in the Sanskrit language contained within the scriptures that states;

“उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्।” - (Bhagavad Gita 6.5)

One must elevate oneself by their own mind and not degrade oneself.

This verse teaches that spiritual discipline during vrats leads to inner upliftment.

Transition into Vaishakh Month & Sacred Observances

Vaishakh month will begin on April 3, and the spiritual energy during this month will be increased. Vedic texts say that Vaishakh month is very important for the practice of charity, fasting, and purifying oneself.

Important vrats like:

  • Vikata Sankashti Chaturthi (April 5)

  • Masik Krishna Janmashtami (April 9)

  • Kalashtami (April 10)

Many of these practices promote discipline and devotion through the guidance of a guru, who teaches the meaning of these practices (via faith) through Sanatangyan.

Another profound Sanskrit wisdom says:

“धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः”

“Dharma protects those who protect it.”

According to ancient shashtra, observing dharma while doing vrats provides divine protection and peace.

Importance of Vrats in Sanatan Dharma

Vrats are ways of transforming ourselves. When we observe vrats with sincerity, we can gain clarity, develop discipline, and receive blessings from the divine.

Fasting, according to ancient shashtra, is one of the methods to strengthen your willpower and to purify your soul.

Another timeless Sanskrit teaching says:

“श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानम्।” - (Bhagavad Gita 4.39)

The faithful gain true knowledge.

This is the basis of Sanatangyan: you gain faith before you gain wisdom, and then you use wisdom to free yourself.

Statements made by the guru along with sadhus are believed to give these observances a higher potential for power or inspiration.

April 2026 represents a holy time period for all of us to align ourselves with dharma, practice vrats, devotion, and discipline during this time. By practicing faith and following the wisdom found in Sanatangyan, we will have a deeper relationship with these days and bring about the development of peace and blessings in our own lives.
