Have you ever looked at the Moon and wondered what it would look like if almost its entire face suddenly disappeared into Earth’s shadow? On August 27–28, 2026, skywatchers across much of the Americas, Europe and Africa will witness a remarkable deep partial lunar eclipse. At maximum eclipse, about 93% of the Moon’s diameter will lie inside Earth’s dark umbral shadow, making the event look remarkably close to a total lunar eclipse.
